AWARENESS INSIGHT MEDITATION

Awareness Insight Meditation is an “Open-Monitoring” style of mediation that is non-dogmatic in its approach but with influences from Eastern traditions, modern psychology, and weaves in the neuroscience of meditation in an accessible way.

At the heart of AIM is learning how to cultivate a consistent meditation practice. Our approach not only teaches students how, when, and for how long to practice, but also provides ongoing guidance and support to help them stay steady on their path.

To truly absorb and embody the transformative power of meditation, consistency is key. This training helps you become a committed meditator, while offering deep insight into what it means to be fully human. What you gain from your practice will always reflect the time, presence, and sincerity you bring to it. But perhaps most importantly, it asks how willing you are to surrender to the process itself.

AIM is taught via a 3-part meditation course by a certified AIM teacher.

Meditation has historically been learned through relationship, not simply through instructions. Across yogic and Buddhist traditions, students practised under the guidance of teachers and within communities, sometimes for many years. A teacher could answer questions, notice misunderstandings, offer context and help a student navigate the challenges that arise as practice deepens. A good teacher should not create dependence, but help strengthen your own awareness, discernment and trust in your experience.

Community matters too. Meditation is inward, but it does not need to be isolated. Practising with others brings encouragement, perspective and continuity, particularly when motivation changes. Apps, books and recordings can be incredibly useful, but meditation historically developed within living relationships and communities. Finding a trustworthy teacher and a group to practise with can give the practice greater depth, support and connection.
